The Emirates News Agency reported that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, approved 470 scholarships for Al Qasimia University for the 2026-2027 academic year. The allocation targets students admitted from various countries for both undergraduate and graduate programs. This decision aligns with the ruler’s established practice of backing educational opportunities at the university.
Al Qasimia University was established in 2013 under a royal decree from the ruler, according to the university’s official website. The institution has attracted students from a growing list of nationalities through successive scholarship rounds. A July 16, 2025 announcement from the university’s media center noted that the ruler had previously approved 500 scholarships along with the largest budget in the university’s history.
The scholarship program at Al Qasimia University is restricted to international students admitted from outside the UAE, the university’s admission page states. Beneficiaries receive full tuition coverage in addition to a monthly stipend set by the university. Further benefits include free accommodation, health insurance, round-trip airfare and visa support for eligible participants.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has authorized thousands of scholarships at Sharjah universities in recent years. Al Etihad reported on July 31, 2025 that the ruler approved 1,578 new undergraduate scholarships across several institutions that month. Khaleej Times reported on Aug. 1, 2023 that an earlier round covered 2,005 scholarships at the University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah.
Following the 2025 scholarship approval the university’s student body included participants from 133 nationalities, according to the Al Qasimia University media center. The university president and board of trustees expressed gratitude for the ruler’s vision of empowering youth through education and advancing the institution as a center for moderation, tolerance and intellectual excellence. The latest 470 scholarships will apply to programs emphasizing those same principles.
The university processes applications for such scholarships according to academic merit and admission criteria published on its website. Eligible students must meet all standard requirements for their chosen degree track. University data places these fully funded places as a central element of its strategy for international enrollment.
