The Dubai Jewellery Group announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Gold Association of Guangdong Province during the Dubai Business Forum – China that Dubai Chambers organised in Shenzhen. The agreement focuses on supporting closer sectoral collaboration between the two regions and expanding commercial ties in the gold and jewellery industries. Business leaders and industry representatives from both markets attended the event where the pact was formalised.

According to the announcement the MoU aims to create new opportunities for cooperation between Dubai’s jewellery sector and partners in Guangdong Province. The pact builds on existing economic relations between the UAE and China in the precious metals field. Dubai Chambers facilitated the forum to bring together key stakeholders from the two sides.

UAE government data places Dubai’s foreign gold trade at about Dh1 trillion in 2025 after a 60 per cent year-on-year increase. Physical gold traded in the UAE reached around 2,750 tonnes that year positioning the country second globally among physical gold trading hubs. The government estimates that 13 to 15 per cent of globally traded gold passes through Dubai annually.

Guangdong Province functions as a major manufacturing centre for gold and jewellery products in China according to provincial economic reports. A delegation from the Gold Association of Guangdong Province visited the Middle East in late 2025 to explore partnerships with UAE entities including the Dubai Jewellery Group. The visit resulted in several cooperation intentions that paved the way for the latest agreement.

The China Gold Association reported that domestic gold consumption reached 303.292 tons in the first quarter of 2026 marking a 4.41 per cent year-on-year rise. This growth aligns with broader trends in the sector that both Dubai and Guangdong seek to leverage through enhanced ties. Officials from the two organisations emphasised the importance of knowledge exchange and joint initiatives.

Dubai’s luxury jewellery market was valued at USD 1.24 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 2.24 billion by 2030 according to industry assessments. The emirate’s favourable policies and logistics infrastructure have supported its emergence as a regional trade hub for precious metals. The new partnership with the Guangdong body forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen these positions in the global market.
