The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism said that Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marry received a high-level delegation from Uzbekistan on April 14 in Dubai for talks on deepening bilateral economic links. The discussions targeted sustainable development partnerships in the new economy, tourism, aviation, fintech, transport and renewable energy. They additionally addressed food security, logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure and banking as avenues for greater integration between the two countries. Al Marry stressed the importance of turning identified opportunities into concrete joint ventures.
More than 2,300 Uzbek companies currently operate in the UAE, according to the ministry. Al Marry pointed to the meeting as a means of fostering direct engagement between business communities to support mutual economic growth. Uzbek visitor numbers to the UAE rose by 25 per cent to 71,969 in 2025, up from 57,575 in 2024, ministry data showed.
The ministry outlined a series of recent economic reforms and legislative changes intended to sustain an open and competitive business climate. These included measures to boost liquidity for enterprises, cut operational expenses in response to global pressures and simplify customs processes. Such initiatives are designed to draw new economy investments and strengthen the role of the private sector.
Both parties examined prospects for collaboration at the forthcoming Investopia Tashkent, organised jointly with the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The event aims to identify investment openings in new economy fields across the UAE, Uzbekistan and wider Asian markets. The ministry described the initiative as evidence of a mutual dedication to creating adaptable business conditions for long-term cooperation.
The Ministry of Economy reported that non-oil trade between the UAE and Uzbekistan expanded by 104 per cent in 2022, attaining a value of $993 million. A Gulf Times assessment found that the two countries’ joint investment portfolio comprises approximately 100 projects. Trade volumes had stood at $209 million in 2020, according to Uzbekistan’s official statistics, illustrating the rapid expansion in economic relations.
In January 2025, the presidents of the two countries held discussions on bilateral relations built on trust and shared interests, the official UAE presidential site noted. A bilateral investment treaty signed in 2007 between the UAE and Uzbekistan remains in force, UNCTAD investment policy data shows. The treaty forms part of the framework supporting the growing number of joint ventures and partnerships.
