Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the UAE Companies for Good 2031 Strategy on Thursday to enhance private sector contributions to sustainable impact and strengthen the competitiveness of the UAE’s CSR, ESG and sustainability ecosystem. The Emirates News Agency reported that the initiative aims to generate more than Dh20 billion in ethical projects from companies by 2031. Private sector firms delivered Dh3.23 billion worth of CSR projects in 2025 with the participation of 367 companies. The strategy identifies CSR as a fundamental pillar of the UAE’s vision for advancing the prosperity of people and society.
The announcement came at an event organised by Majra, the country’s CSR fund, at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. The gathering honoured winners of this year’s Impact Seal award for their contributions. Majra will collect examples of sustainable policies from participating companies to support broader implementation across the private sector.
Majra chief executive Sarah Shaw said the launch of the UAE Companies for Good 2031 Strategy marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s journey towards strengthening the nation’s sustainable impact ecosystem. Shaw added that the strategy provides a comprehensive national framework that enables the private sector to maximise its contribution to sustainable impact while advancing the impact economy in support of the UAE’s national priorities. The framework builds on existing mechanisms to align corporate efforts with national development goals.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed said the country has launched numerous national initiatives and projects aimed at advancing CSR while strengthening strategic partnerships between the government sector, the private sector, academic institutions, companies and the third sector. He noted that this approach has significantly increased awareness of corporate social responsibility across society while contributing to the development of a national economy that delivers positive and sustainable impact. The Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court stressed the role of such collaboration in achieving long-term societal benefits.
Qualifying CSR activities under the strategy include Emiratisation, carbon footprint reduction, flexible working conditions and visits to people of determination, according to the Emirates News Agency. Companies taking part must share examples of their sustainable policies with Majra to help develop best-practice resources. The requirement is intended to expand the pool of verified initiatives available for wider business adoption.
The National reported that private sector firms are asked to provide ethical projects worth Dh20 billion plus by 2031 under the new strategy. This target covers the next five years and reflects a substantial increase from the 2025 contribution level. The initiative aligns corporate participation with priorities such as social cohesion, humanitarian values and balanced economic growth that serves the community.
