The Sharjah Cultural Chess Club brought its “A Holiday Reimagined 2026” initiative to a close on July 31 with a ceremony honouring all involved, according to a Sharjah24 report on the event. The four-week programme drew 140 boys between the ages of 7 and 12, combining learning opportunities with recreational pursuits to make productive use of the school holiday period. Organised under the umbrella of the Sharjah Sports Council, the effort collaborated with several government and private entities to deliver a varied schedule that reflected the emirate’s commitment to youth development.
Activities revolved around four distinct themes, Family Week, Artificial Intelligence Week, Sharjah Week and Sports Week, the club detailed in its concluding remarks. Participants received introductory chess training together with specialised workshops on future skills and artificial intelligence as well as scientific and cultural sessions. The schedule also featured Holy Quran memorisation classes, karate and football training plus multiple educational field trips to prominent landmarks across Sharjah.
A range of organisations partnered in the delivery, including the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub, Emirates Creative Association, Sharjah Department of Public Works, Sharjah American International School, Sharjah Museums Authority, Sharjah Classic Cars Club, Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club and the Elderly Care Home, according to the report. The closing ceremony recognised the boys, their families, programme supervisors and all collaborating partners for their contributions. Imran Abdullah Al Nuaimi, vice chairman of the Sharjah Chess Club, led the honours and delivered remarks on the initiative’s impact.
Al Nuaimi thanked the Sharjah Sports Council and every partner organisation for their role in ensuring the programme ran smoothly and achieved its objectives. “The success achieved in the programme reflects the extent of the confidence that families have in the programmes offered by the club,” he stated. The vice chairman added that the club remains committed to creating further initiatives in alignment with Sharjah’s broader vision for community enrichment.
The programme sought to build character among the young participants while advancing their intellectual, sporting and social abilities through a balanced mix of structured activities, the club explained. Similar summer efforts under the “A Holiday Reimagined” banner have taken place across other Sharjah entities this season, with the Sharjah Old Cars Club concluding its edition after attracting 149 participants, according to the Emirates News Agency. The Sharjah Ladies Chess and Cultural Club also wrapped up its month-long version that incorporated competitions and field trips, local coverage indicated.
