Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives announced the allocation of AED150 million in financial support for UAE charitable and humanitarian organisations on Wednesday during a ceremony attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The organisation signed 11 partnership agreements to distribute the funding as part of efforts to strengthen local humanitarian work. The partners include Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, Tarahum Charity Foundation, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment, Emirates Health Services, the UAE Food Bank, Beit Al Khair Society, Dar Al Ber Society, Al Jalila Foundation, Fujairah Charity Association, Noor Dubai and the Digital School, MBRGI said in an announcement. The agreements aim to advance initiatives in healthcare, food security, education and community support across the country.
MBRGI’s Year in Review report placed total spending across its programmes at more than AED2.3 billion in 2025, with the sum reaching 165 million beneficiaries in 122 countries. The organisation’s humanitarian aid and relief pillar accounted for AED625 million of that expenditure, according to the same report, and benefited more than 53 million people worldwide. Those figures marked an increase from the prior year, when MBRGI reached 149 million beneficiaries across 118 countries. The Wednesday announcement focuses the latest funding on domestic organisations that align with MBRGI’s five core pillars of activity.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives was established in 2015 as an umbrella for more than 30 entities and initiatives, MBRGI figures show. Since its launch the organisation has spent more than AED13.8 billion on humanitarian and development projects that have benefited approximately 788 million people, according to its records. The latest AED150 million commitment adds to ongoing domestic programmes that complement MBRGI’s international operations in areas such as emergency relief and sustainable development.
Among the partner organisations, the UAE Food Bank distributed 32 million meals in 2025 while the Al Jalila Foundation supported thousands of patients through specialised care programmes, MBRGI data indicates. Noor Dubai has focused on eye care and treatment for preventable blindness both locally and abroad. The Digital School initiative extends educational access through technology, fitting within MBRGI’s emphasis on spreading knowledge. Each agreement outlines targeted uses for the allocated funds to ensure measurable impact in their respective fields.
MBRGI launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District in 2025 with total investments of AED4.7 billion, the organisation’s report stated. Returns from the district’s residential, healthcare and educational facilities are directed toward sustainable charitable causes. The endowment model supports long-term funding for projects similar to those covered in Wednesday’s agreements. This approach has allowed MBRGI to move beyond immediate relief toward capacity building and crisis prevention.
Additional domestic efforts include the 1 Billion Meals Endowment, which seeks to create a permanent food safety net for vulnerable populations, according to MBRGI documentation. The organisation continues to collaborate with local authorities and international bodies to align its work with broader UAE humanitarian objectives. Wednesday’s funding distribution reinforces that coordination by directing resources to established UAE entities with proven operational reach.
