The Ajman Department of Finance has taken an active role in the Our Happy Summer 2026 programme, setting up an interactive pavilion that offers workshops on personal finance, budgeting and digital payment systems for participating students and families. According to a statement from the department, the initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote financial awareness among younger residents during the school holiday period. The programme, organised by the Ajman Youth Centre in cooperation with several government entities, features more than 50 daily activities ranging from sports to cultural events across multiple venues in the emirate.
Department officials reported that more than 200 students attended the finance-focused sessions in the first two weeks, where experts explained basic concepts such as saving, investment fundamentals and safe online transactions. The Ajman Department of Finance noted that these workshops form part of its ongoing community outreach strategy, which has reached over 5,000 residents through similar events since 2023. A department spokesperson stated, “We are committed to equipping the youth with essential financial knowledge that will benefit them throughout their lives.”
The summer programme has expanded significantly this year, incorporating new partners from the public and private sectors to enhance its educational component. Figures from the Ajman Youth Centre show participation rates have increased by 25 percent compared with the 2025 edition, reflecting growing demand for structured holiday activities. The finance department’s involvement includes hands-on simulations of banking services and guidance on government payment platforms, helping attendees navigate routine administrative tasks more efficiently.
In addition to the workshops, the department has distributed informational materials on financial planning tailored for families, covering topics such as household expense management and long-term savings goals. The Central Bank of the UAE has previously highlighted the importance of early financial education, reporting in its 2025 financial literacy survey that only 38 percent of young adults in the country demonstrate adequate understanding of core banking concepts. This participation by the Ajman Department of Finance directly addresses that gap within the local community.
Organisers have integrated technology into many of the programme’s offerings, with the finance pavilion featuring interactive digital kiosks for simulated transactions. The Ajman Youth Centre indicated that the 2026 edition emphasises skill-building alongside recreation, aiming to prepare participants for future academic and professional challenges. Department representatives have scheduled additional sessions through the end of the month, focusing on specialised topics requested by attendees during the initial phase.
The Our Happy Summer 2026 programme forms part of a nationwide network of summer activities coordinated across UAE emirates, with Ajman’s version drawing participants from neighbouring areas as well. According to Ministry of Culture and Youth data, such initiatives collectively engage tens of thousands of residents each year, contributing to social cohesion and personal development during the extended break from formal schooling. The Ajman Department of Finance plans to evaluate feedback from this year’s involvement to refine its approach for future community programmes.
