The event held at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island brought participants together for a morning of physical activity combined with educational outreach on breast cancer screening. According to the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, the initiative sought to build community solidarity while stressing regular health checks among residents of all abilities. Organisers set the walk and run to start at 8 a.m. and wrap up by 9 a.m. at the North Link Bridge, ensuring broad accessibility for families and individuals.

In advance of the gathering the youth councils circulated details across social media platforms to maximise engagement. The authority extended an open invitation focused on collective action against the disease. The Zayed Authority stated in its announcement, “Join us for a 5 km Walk & Run as part of the “More Than Just a Pink Ribbon” initiative, raising breast cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection, and promoting community solidarity.”

Breast cancer continues to rank among the primary health concerns for women in the UAE, where the Ministry of Health and Prevention has identified it as one of the most diagnosed cancers in that demographic. Ministry figures show expanded screening programs throughout the emirates in recent years, with officials underscoring that timely diagnosis substantially raises treatment effectiveness. World Health Organization data indicates that early detection can push survival rates above 90 percent in many instances.

The gathering represented one element of numerous Pinktober campaigns unfolding across Abu Dhabi during October 2026. Comparable activities at Al Jimi Mall featured passport-style shopping challenges that rewarded participants with gift cards upon completion of awareness steps. Additional programs included the ADCB Zayed Sports City Pink Run offering routes of varying distances and wellness sessions at local beach clubs.

Aldar’s contribution to the ‘More Than Just a Pink Ribbon’ event reflects its pattern of backing local health drives in areas where it operates major developments. The company supplied the upscale retail location to help draw larger crowds and support logistical needs. Such joint efforts between developers and public bodies have grown more frequent when tackling widespread health education topics.

Youth councils within the Zayed Higher Organisation have stepped up their role in projects that deliver tangible societal benefits. Their activities routinely incorporate people of determination into wider community settings to advance inclusion. This collaboration with Aldar merges that objective with a health-focused campaign designed to encourage proactive steps toward prevention and support.
