The Dubai Future Foundation has partnered with Oxa to establish the Autonomous Logistics Future Lab as a dedicated hub for advancing self-driving systems in logistics operations, according to a joint announcement from the two organisations. The facility will conduct research, real-world testing and policy development to support integration of autonomous vehicles into Dubai’s transport network. Officials indicated the lab will collaborate with local entities to address technical and regulatory requirements for deployment.
Dubai Future Foundation described the initiative as part of its ongoing efforts to position the emirate at the forefront of emerging technologies, the announcement stated. The foundation has established similar collaborative platforms in fields including artificial intelligence and advanced materials in recent years. This latest project targets the logistics sector, which handles a growing share of regional trade volumes.
Oxa, a developer of autonomous driving software, will contribute its technical expertise to the lab, the partners reported. The company has conducted trials of its systems in controlled environments in Europe and North America over the past decade. Its involvement forms part of a broader expansion into Middle East markets where demand for efficient freight solutions is rising.

The Autonomous Logistics Future Lab will feature simulation platforms, on-site testing areas and training modules for local specialists, according to the organisations’ announcement. Initial projects will focus on last-mile delivery and medium-haul freight applications tailored to Dubai’s urban layout. Regulators from relevant authorities will participate in defining safety protocols and operational standards.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has set a target for 25 percent of all mobility trips to use autonomous modes by 2030, RTA figures show. Several pilot schemes for driverless pods and buses have already operated in designated zones under that framework. The laboratory’s work will extend those efforts into the commercial logistics domain, building on existing regulatory experience.
