The Sharjah Scouts Association has concluded its ‘Our Children and Summer’ camp, according to the Emirates News Agency. The closing ceremony highlighted the various programs that kept participants engaged throughout the summer break. Officials from the association and guests attended the event at the group’s headquarters.
The camp operated under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the Sharjah Sports Council. It was hosted at the association’s headquarters in the Al Sweihat area of Sharjah. More than 150 male and female students from different age groups took part in the nearly four-week program.
Workshops and activities formed the core of the camp, the association said in its review of the event. These covered scientific, cultural, sports, artistic and skill-based topics in addition to educational and entertaining segments. Students also went on visits to several government departments and recreational places to complement their learning.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Mulla, chairman of the Sharjah Scouts Association, addressed the gathering at the conclusion. “The Sharjah Scouts Association seeks to invest the spare time of children during the summer vacation by developing their various skills and abilities in the various fields,” he said. Al Mulla also thanked Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his support of the scouting movement in the emirate.
One of the participating students shared her positive experience at the ceremony. She described how the camp helped her acquire new knowledge while enjoying the company of peers. Such feedback reflected the program’s value for young attendees.
The event is one of many summer camps offered in Sharjah. Gulf News reported that the emirate provides unique summer camps for kids and teens focusing on art, innovation and personal development during July and August.
