The Emirates News Agency reported that Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the minister of tolerance and coexistence, attended a reception hosted by French Ambassador Nicolas Niemtchinow at the French Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The event took place on the evening of July 14, 2026 to mark France’s National Day. Nahyan bin Mubarak conveyed the greetings of the UAE leadership to the French government and people on this occasion and praised the level of relations between the two countries.
According to the agency, the French Ambassador emphasised the strong and distinguished relations between his country and the UAE. He pointed to the constant keenness on both sides to enhance cooperation in all fields. Nahyan bin Mubarak expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality during the National Day celebration.
Bilateral relations between the UAE and France have grown significantly since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1974, a development noted in multiple official reviews. The two countries collaborate closely in areas ranging from defence and security to culture and education. Such receptions provide opportunities for senior officials to reaffirm this partnership.
Figures from the French Embassy in the UAE show bilateral trade reached 10.8 billion euros in 2025, an increase from 8.5 billion euros the previous year. The UAE stands as France’s leading customer in the Gulf, representing more than half of French exports to the region. Imports from the UAE consist mainly of petroleum products, the embassy data indicated.
The French assessment found that France maintains a substantial trade surplus with the UAE, which hit 8.6 billion euros in 2025. Exports from France include diverse products such as aircraft, perfumes and cosmetics, communication equipment and pharmaceuticals. This economic interdependence supports broader strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Senior officials from the UAE government and the diplomatic community in Abu Dhabi joined the minister at the reception. The gathering reflected the deep friendship and mutual interests that define the UAE-France relationship. Events like this annual celebration help sustain momentum in bilateral engagement across political, economic and cultural spheres.
