The Emirates News Agency reported that TRENDS Research & Advisory will host a series of forward-looking research events, discussions and intellectual sessions at its knowledge pavilion during the expo at the Grand Hall in Olympia. The Abu Dhabi-based organisation will display approximately 550 publications covering academic series, original works, translated titles and studies across economic, political, social and forward-looking fields. This marks the think tank’s first appearance at the leading global event specialising in security, risk management and protection technologies, which is scheduled for the two days immediately following the announcement.

Mohammed Al-Salmi, general manager of TRENDS Research & Advisory, described the participation as particularly significant. “TRENDS’ participation in the International Security Expo is particularly significant, as the event is one of the world’s leading gatherings on security, strategic, and technological issues,” Al-Salmi said according to the Emirates News Agency. The event assembles prominent speakers from government and the private sector along with experts and more than 10,000 professionals focused on institutional security, critical infrastructure protection, counterterrorism, counter-extremism and international security, he added.

Hazza Al-Hammadi, director of the exhibitions department at TRENDS Group, outlined the strategic intent behind the engagement. “TRENDS’ participation in the exhibition seeks to strengthen dialogue between research and security practice through direct engagement with policymakers and experts attending the event,” Al-Hammadi stated in the same report. The initiative reflects the organisation’s emphasis on bridging academic research with practical security applications at major international platforms.

TRENDS Research & Advisory maintains partnerships with 342 academic, media, governmental and private institutions across more than 45 countries, according to an overview published on the organisation’s website. The think tank operates 22 physical and virtual external offices worldwide, including a virtual presence in the United Kingdom established in collaboration with the University of Cambridge to advance cooperation in technology, artificial intelligence and counter-extremism. These global connections support its mandate as a leading centre for foresight, advisory services and knowledge dissemination on international issues.

Previous editions of the International Security Expo have drawn nearly 10,000 visitors from 99 countries to engage with more than 300 exhibiting brands. A review of the 2025 gathering by Security Journal UK highlighted presentations on evolving threats, government policy updates and innovations in areas such as counterterrorism, hostile vehicle mitigation and cybersecurity. The 2026 edition is positioned to continue this focus, offering TRENDS an opportunity to present its body of work directly to senior officials and industry specialists.

The organisation has organised 298 scientific events and taken part in 461 conferences and forums addressing sustainable security, extremism, youth development and related topics, its published records show. Recent activities in the United Kingdom included research dialogues with prominent institutions such as Chatham House and the Royal United Services Institute to explore collaboration on defence, cybersecurity, nuclear energy and artificial intelligence. TRENDS’ appearance at the London expo extends this pattern of active international involvement aimed at fostering dialogue between research outputs and real-world security challenges.
