UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a congratulatory cable to Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the occasion of Republic Day, the Emirates News Agency reported. Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum dispatched a similar message to the Kazakh leader. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also extended their greetings in separate notes, according to the official dispatch.

The messages conveyed best wishes for the prosperity of Kazakhstan and its people while highlighting the longstanding friendship between the nations. These exchanges occurred as Kazakhstan marked its national holiday, with the communications reflecting the priority both sides place on bilateral ties. The Emirates News Agency outlined the details of the cables in its coverage of the diplomatic gestures.

Republic Day on October 25 commemorates the 1990 Declaration of State Sovereignty by the Kazakh SSR, a foundational step that preceded full independence in 1991, a historical overview by The Astana Times explained. The occasion was reinstated as a national holiday in 2022 to emphasize the origins of Kazakh statehood and its evolution into a sovereign republic. Kazakhstan has since forged diverse international relationships, placing particular emphasis on cooperation with Gulf states including the UAE.

Bilateral trade between the UAE and Kazakhstan grew 8.6 percent to approximately $6.1 billion in 2025, a Khaleej Times report from May 2026 showed. The UAE remains Kazakhstan’s leading trading partner among Arab countries, the publication added in its account of regional economic trends. This expansion aligns with a 15 percent rise in overall UAE trade with Eurasian Economic Union members to more than Dh121 billion that year.

Non-oil trade between the UAE and the Eurasian Economic Union exceeded $33.3 billion in 2025, rising 15 percent year on year, according to figures cited by Arabian Business. The Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the UAE and the bloc the previous year has contributed to reduced barriers and increased flows across multiple sectors. UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi discussed further opportunities during a visit to Astana for the Eurasian Economic Forum 2026.

Kazakhstan’s exports to the UAE increased 42.1 percent in the first quarter of 2026 while Emirati foreign direct investment in the country reached $1.6 billion in 2025, an assessment published by The Astana Times found. Much of that investment has targeted transport, logistics, trade and urban development projects. The two governments have pursued joint initiatives in agriculture, technology and infrastructure to build on this momentum.
