The UAE Aid Agency announced the dispatch of 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid and relief supplies to Venezuela following two recent earthquakes that affected the country. Delivered in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Caracas, the consignment focused on medical supplies along with tents and other shelter materials to meet immediate humanitarian requirements and bolster local response efforts. The shipment was formally received by senior officials from both nations, among them Venezuela’s Deputy Minister for Asia, Middle East and Oceania Andrea Corao Faria and Deputy Minister for Industrial Development and Commerce Inder Romero of the Ministry of People’s Power for Industries and National Commerce.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the assistance reflected the UAE’s longstanding commitment to responding rapidly to humanitarian crises. “The supplies will help meet urgent shelter and healthcare needs by providing accommodation materials for displaced people and medical supplies to support the treatment of those injured, contributing to early recovery efforts and easing the suffering of those affected,” he said. Al Ameri framed the delivery as a contribution to the early recovery process in the disaster-affected regions.
Venezuela’s Vice Minister of Health Alexandra Josefina Hernández said that the UAE was the first country to provide these specific medical supplies and medicines tailored to the ministry’s requirements. She praised the UAE’s swift response and its support for the country’s healthcare sector. Hernández added that further international assistance might be required as the situation evolves, according to a WAM report.
The UAE Aid Agency said its teams continue to conduct field visits to the hardest-hit areas of La Guaira state to assess damage and humanitarian needs. Agency personnel are also carrying out regular inspections of tent installation sites and medical warehouses in Caracas. These steps allow monitoring of aid distribution to ensure it meets international humanitarian standards.
WAM reported that the aid reception underscored practical cooperation between UAE and Venezuelan authorities at a time of need. The involvement of deputy ministers from relevant portfolios facilitated smooth handover and planning for onward distribution. Such coordination has become a feature of the UAE’s engagement in relief operations across multiple regions in recent years.
The UAE Aid Agency indicated that ongoing field assessments in La Guaira will help identify any additional requirements stemming from the twin earthquakes. Regular reviews of storage and installation sites in the capital form part of a structured approach to implementation. This method supports effective use of the delivered materials in line with established protocols.
