The board reviewed the latest developments in the fifth cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award according to the statement from Suqia UAE. This cycle offers USD 1 million in total prizes and continues to attract submissions from universities research centres companies institutions and individual innovators around the world. Applications for the award remain open until 30 September 2026 as the foundation seeks transformative technologies to tackle the global water crisis.
Discussions turned to a recent field visit by Suqia UAE representatives to Tanzania where the board examined the impact of implemented water projects. These initiatives have supplied potable water across multiple provinces and villages in line with directives from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. More than one million people have benefited from the effort which aims to improve quality of life reduce the daily burden of water collection and shield communities from waterborne diseases the foundation reported.
Locally the board evaluated Suqia UAE’s ongoing role in the Al Freej Fridge humanitarian campaign now in its third consecutive year. The programme launched by Ferjan Dubai with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and in partnership with the UAE Food Bank distributes two million bottles of cold water juices and frozen treats to workers across Dubai throughout the summer months. Suqia UAE’s participation forms part of broader efforts to support residents and labourers during periods of extreme heat.
The meeting underscored the foundation’s inspiration from the values of giving and humanity championed by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Suqia UAE stated that its projects align with the UAE’s wider humanitarian mission and national priorities for international development.
