WAM reported that Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued the decision in his capacity as Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The directive establishes the Dubai Media Narrative Committee with a mandate to propose policies, plans and programs related to media narratives. It will follow up on implementation, evaluate outcomes and submit regular reports to the council while coordinating among relevant entities.
The Emirates News Agency detailed that the committee will focus on strengthening Dubai’s international standing through cohesive storytelling that reflects the emirate’s vision and achievements. It will engage with local, regional and global media organizations to align communication efforts. The decision also empowers the committee to form specialized sub-groups as required to meet its objectives.
WAM noted that the committee’s headquarters will be based in Dubai with a chairman and members appointed through a separate resolution. This structure aims to ensure effective oversight of narrative development across government and private sector platforms. The formation aligns with the council’s broader role in advancing the media sector established since 2021.
The news agency indicated that the decision builds upon prior initiatives by the Dubai Media Council to modernize media operations and adapt to technological changes. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed has issued multiple directives in recent years targeting digital transformation and content support within the industry. Such measures have sought to position Dubai as a competitive player in the evolving global media environment.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the committee will monitor international media trends and recommend responses that support the emirate’s strategic priorities. It will emphasize narratives that highlight innovation, commerce and cultural aspects of Dubai. The decision provides a framework for periodic assessments to measure the effectiveness of implemented media campaigns.
WAM stated that the move reflects ongoing coordination between regulatory bodies and media outlets to maintain consistency in external communications. The committee is tasked with addressing challenges arising from rapid shifts in information dissemination. This latest step adds to efforts that have expanded Dubai’s media footprint over the past decade.
