The Emirates News Agency reported that Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, led the UAE delegation during the visit to Washington, DC. The mission centered on advancing the UAE-US partnership in advanced science and technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, space and quantum computing. Sharaf held talks with Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, to explore ways to bolster the technological partnership between the two countries.
The delegation also included Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, and Dr. Mohamed Alkhemairi, Executive Director of the Research and Development Ecosystem at the Advanced Technology Research Council. Representatives from the UAE Space Agency and Space42 participated as well. These members contributed specialized expertise across the discussed fields during the engagements.
According to the agency, the meetings with Jacob Helberg, Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, and Adam Cassady, Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy at the US Department of State, focused on expanding collaboration in advanced artificial intelligence, quantum and secure technologies, cybersecurity and trusted digital infrastructure. The discussions also covered enhancing information sharing and preparedness for future technologies such as post-quantum cryptography. This visit comes as part of broader efforts that have included the UAE’s commitment to invest 1.4 trillion dollars in the US technology sector over the coming decade, a figure highlighted in statements from the UAE Embassy in Washington.
The trip featured additional sessions with leading US think tanks, research institutions and private-sector companies, the Emirates News Agency stated. These included the Hudson Institute, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the US-UAE Business Council, the Software and Information Industry Association and IonQ, a leader in quantum computing. Such interactions aimed to foster dialogue on shared interests and potential joint initiatives.
A US Department of State release from earlier in 2026 described the AI Acceleration Partnership between the two nations as a key framework for cooperation that positions the United States as the UAE’s partner of choice in artificial intelligence. The partnership, signed in May 2025, has enabled streamlined access to advanced technologies while maintaining strict security standards. This latest delegation builds directly on that foundation to accelerate progress across multiple domains.
The UAE delegation strengthens technology cooperation with United States through these sustained high-level exchanges that align strategic priorities in emerging technologies. Officials exchanged views on rapid developments in science and technology during the visit. The engagements are expected to support ongoing bilateral work in areas critical to both countries’ innovation agendas.
