The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the MoU with DHL Express at a signing ceremony held at its headquarters in Sharjah. H.E. Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, director-general of the SCCI, Mahmoud Haj Hussein, managing director of DHL Express, and Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, director of the SCCI’s international relations department, formalised the partnership in the presence of senior representatives from both sides. The chamber said in a statement that the agreement would strengthen cooperation on advanced logistics solutions for the emirate’s business community while reinforcing efforts to empower local enterprises.
Under the partnership DHL Express will extend its international express shipping services to SCCI-registered companies and SMEs under preferential terms to enhance their global competitiveness. The MoU incorporates tailored member support along with co-branded marketing initiatives that include awareness seminars and digital outreach campaigns. Integration of advanced technology solutions including e-shipping platform connectivity will optimise trade processes and supply chain efficiency according to the announcement.
Al Awadi remarked that the MoU supports the Sharjah Chamber’s strategic agenda to deliver world-class services that elevate business competitiveness enable international market expansion and foster innovation and entrepreneurship within a growth-oriented ecosystem. He noted that the collaboration serves as a key enabler for SCCI members especially SMEs by providing access to advanced logistics solutions and optimised international shipping services. This access enhances their scalability and global market penetration the statement added.
DHL Express maintains a robust operational footprint across the UAE that includes more than 150 daily flights three major airport hubs over 350 vehicles and 35 service points the chamber’s announcement detailed. The logistics provider connects to key global corridors encompassing the GCC the United States France China Germany and Italy. Its sector expertise covers automotive pharmaceuticals energy technology fashion aviation engineering and manufacturing among others.
UAE government data showed the country’s non-oil foreign trade surpassed one trillion dollars for the first time in 2025 after a 26 per cent increase from the prior year. The Ministry of Economy reported that non-oil GDP expanded by 5.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 to reach 352 billion dirhams with trade activities contributing 15.6 per cent to that total. Manufacturing posted the fastest growth among non-oil sectors at 7.7 per cent during the same period.
An IMARC Group assessment valued the UAE logistics market at 57.6 billion dollars in 2025 and projected expansion to 96.3 billion dollars by 2034 at a compound annual growth rate of 5.58 per cent. The consultancy attributed the outlook to rising e-commerce demand increased trade volumes and continued infrastructure investments across the federation. The SCCI-DHL partnership will help Sharjah-based businesses leverage this environment through improved export and re-export capabilities.
The statement indicated that the agreement aligns with the chamber’s broader objective of developing Sharjah’s business environment and supporting entrepreneurs in scaling operations regionally and internationally. Joint programmes will be introduced to translate the MoU into practical benefits for participating companies. Senior officials from both organisations expressed commitment to the initiative’s rollout over the coming months.
