Salik and Shamal signed a memorandum of understanding to enable seamless parking payments at the Harbour West Car Park in Dubai Harbour, the companies said in a joint statement released on July 12, 2026. The agreement integrates Salik’s e-wallet technology with the new multi-storey facility, allowing motorists to enter and exit without tickets, cash or barriers through automatic number plate recognition. Integration with Parkonic, Salik’s established parking partner, will simplify transactions while improving traffic flow and reducing travel times for visitors to the popular destination. The partnership builds on Salik’s growing role in digital mobility solutions across the emirate.

The Harbour West Car Park features 845 parking spaces across nine floors with a total built-up area of 31,487 square metres including the rooftop, according to the announcement. Motorists with linked Salik accounts will have fees deducted automatically upon departure, eliminating the need for manual payments or physical tickets at the Dubai Harbour location. The system aims to enhance the overall customer experience at one of Dubai’s key waterfront developments that attracts residents and tourists alike. Shamal operates the car park as part of its broader destination management responsibilities.

Salik Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad described the collaboration as a further step in the company’s transformation into a comprehensive mobility and digital payments platform. In the statement, Al Haddad highlighted how such partnerships extend Salik’s technology beyond toll collection to support smarter urban mobility. Shamal Chief Executive Officer Abdulla Binhabtoor noted that the initiative improves the visitor journey while aligning with Dubai’s smart city objectives. Both executives emphasised the focus on convenience and efficiency for users.

Salik’s first-quarter 2026 financial results showed ancillary revenue from parking payment solutions reaching AED 8 million, a 147 percent increase from the same period a year earlier, the company reported. The growth stems from existing partnerships with entities including Emaar Malls, Parkonic and Dubai Airports, where Salik’s system now operates across multiple terminals and more than 150 locations nationwide. A five-year agreement with Parkonic has driven adoption of the seamless payment solution at numerous sites since its expansion in 2025. These figures illustrate the rising contribution of parking services to Salik’s overall business.

A Research and Markets assessment valued the UAE smart parking and ANPR systems market at USD 1.2 billion, driven by urbanisation, IoT adoption and smart city projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Global smart parking markets are projected to expand significantly, with one Future Market Insights outlook forecasting growth from USD 7.6 billion in 2025 to USD 21.3 billion by 2035 at a compound annual growth rate of 10.8 percent. Dubai has rolled out similar barrierless systems at locations including City Walk and Yas Bay Waterfront, where Salik integration has streamlined access. The latest MoU at Dubai Harbour continues this trend toward cashless and ticketless parking across key venues.

The development forms part of Salik’s strategy to scale its e-wallet and digital partnerships, including a 10-year agreement with Dubai Airports signed earlier in 2026 and collaborations with operators such as Valtrans for valet services. Salik first entered the parking segment through its 2024 strategic tie-up with Parkonic, the UAE’s largest private parking operator, which has since expanded to hundreds of sites. Officials expect the Harbour West implementation to reduce congestion at the facility while supporting Dubai’s broader goals for integrated smart infrastructure. The system becomes operational immediately following the agreement announcement.
