On the decisive stage, del Toro attacked alone on the final climb and established a half-minute lead over the chasing pack, according to the team’s account. Soudal Quick-Step drove the pursuit and caught the blue-jersey wearer with just 50 metres remaining, allowing Paul Magnier of that team to sprint to the stage victory. The move nevertheless proved sufficient for del Toro to preserve his advantage and take the race honours.
Final standings listed del Toro first in 17:39:48, with Louis Barré of Visma-Lease a Bike second at 53 seconds and Marc Hirschi of Tudor Pro Cycling third at 1:08, the statement detailed. The result followed his prologue win by less than a second and a runner-up finish on the opening road stage, showcasing steady performances across all four days. It represented his 11th victory of the season and fourth overall stage-race success after earlier triumphs at the UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico and Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Del Toro reflected on the week in the team’s release. “It was a super nice week here. It was fully a crazy experience, and we lived a lot of things this week. I am super happy,” he said. He added that the attack was unplanned but he committed fully upon seeing the gap, describing the near-miss as a positive experience while noting his strong physical condition.
Cyclingnews reported that del Toro had opened the race with a prologue victory on the 2.6-kilometre course in Bad Orb, finishing ahead of Magnier.
