The Emirates News Agency reported that the UAE National Programme for Artificial Intelligence launched the 2026 edition of its flagship youth camp with a series of updated workshops covering specialized topics in machine learning, data ethics and practical AI deployment. Organizers have integrated collaborations with overseas technology firms and academic centers to deliver expert-led sessions and shared resources throughout the program. These additions reflect ongoing efforts to align the curriculum with evolving global standards in artificial intelligence education and application.

Previous editions of the camp have scaled steadily, with the seventh iteration in 2025 featuring more than 70 workshops and attracting hundreds of young participants across the country, according to a summary published on LinkedIn by the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence. That program ran from mid-July to mid-August 2025 and emphasized the creation of innovative solutions to real-world problems, an Al Etihad news report stated. The 2026 session extends this model by incorporating expanded international input to broaden exposure for attendees.

The National Programme for Artificial Intelligence has described the camp as a core component of national efforts to develop AI talent from an early age and to prepare participants for careers in technology-driven sectors. Sessions combine theoretical instruction with hands-on projects that encourage creative problem-solving and collaborative work. Global partners contribute specialized modules that introduce participants to current industry tools and research methodologies.

A May 2026 assessment from the Atlantic Council found that the UAE continues to advance its AI leadership through education and training initiatives, including programs that support the national target of doubling artificial intelligence’s share of gross domestic product from 10 percent in 2022 to 20 percent in 2032. The Digital Economy Strategy underpins these activities by promoting widespread AI literacy and skills development. Such camps form part of a broader ecosystem that includes internships, school curricula and specialized university tracks.

Emirates News Agency coverage indicated that the new workshops address both technical competencies and responsible AI use, with participants engaging in group challenges that simulate commercial and public-sector applications. International partnerships have enabled access to remote mentoring from experts based abroad in addition to on-site activities. Selection for the camp prioritizes students demonstrating strong interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.

Organizers plan to evaluate outcomes from the 2026 camp through participant projects and feedback surveys, according to patterns established in prior years as documented by outlets including The Economic Times. Past editions have produced student-led innovations that gained recognition at national technology events. The program operates as a free or low-cost opportunity to ensure wide accessibility for eligible UAE youth.
