Flame Trees are noted for their vibrant red flowers during the summer months and their suitability to the local climate, a Dubai Municipality assessment found. The partnership reflects coordinated efforts between government entities and private sector organisations to advance environmental goals across the emirate.
Following a directive from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the municipality has expanded its Flame Tree planting activities in streets, public parks and residential areas, a regional media report indicated. Dubai Municipality updates show the authority completed planting 1,000 Flame Trees along Amman Street, covering six roundabouts and 10 kilometres of central median. The municipality’s figures place the total number of Flame Trees planted so far at more than 50,000, with additional saplings scheduled for redistribution to residents in coming months.
ENOC Group said in a statement that providing seedlings to staff aligns with its ongoing support for sustainability projects throughout the UAE. The energy company has engaged in multiple environmental initiatives in recent years that emphasise community participation. Direct involvement of employees is intended to extend the reach of the greening program beyond corporate facilities into private and public spaces.
Similar collaborations have drawn participation from additional organisations in the private sector. VFS Global committed to planting 1,200 Flame Trees over the coming months through cooperation with Dubai Municipality, according to a company press release. Imtiaz Developments announced plans to plant 10,000 Flame Trees across its residential communities in partnership with the same authority.
The broader campaign incorporates guidance on proper planting and maintenance of the trees to ensure successful growth. Dubai Municipality officials have noted that expanded greenery contributes to temperature regulation in urban zones and enhances the visual landscape of the city. Further corporate partnerships are anticipated as the initiative scales in the months ahead.
