The Family Care Authority said in a statement that it signed four service-level agreements that day with government partners including the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Knowledge, and Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. H.E. Salama Ajlan Al Ameemi, Director General of the Family Care Authority, joined H.E. Yousif Alhosani, Executive Director of the Judicial Support Sector at the Judicial Department, along with other senior officials at the signing. The agreements seek to improve referral systems and case management for priority matters while centering on prevention and early intervention. The Family Care Authority operates as an affiliate of the Department of Community Development.
The announcement detailed how the partnership with the Judicial Department will enhance coordination between social and judicial services in fields such as child and family protection, visitation arrangements, alternative care, rehabilitation and social reintegration. It forms part of efforts to build a connected social ecosystem that supports family wellbeing, social cohesion and community stability across Abu Dhabi. A Springer Nature chapter citing WAM reports noted that an earlier Judicial Department reconciliation initiative produced a 3 percent drop in the divorce rate in 2022 compared with 2021 while resolving 99.2 percent of family disputes.
The Department of Community Development has expanded the Family Care Authority’s mandate under Abu Dhabi Executive Council Resolution No. 9 of 2024 to include shelter services, rehabilitation programs and specialised support for victims of violence and human trafficking. Centres in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra deliver counselling, protective care, empowerment initiatives and custody visitation programs. These services follow a human-centred approach tailored to individuals and families at every life stage.
Agreements with the Department of Health focus on integrating social and healthcare responses in protection cases, mental health support and high-risk situations. The pact with the Department of Education and Knowledge establishes joint mechanisms to improve student wellbeing and address social and psychological needs in schools. Cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police targets joint responses to domestic violence, child protection emergencies and related high-risk matters.
WAM has previously reported on Judicial Department programs such as Al Solh Khair that provide counselling, workshops and follow-up to promote amicable resolutions and family stability. The current agreements align with the Year of the Family 2026 emphasis on cohesive societies and sustained support structures. The Family Care Authority acts as a coordinating entity across the social sector to deliver integrated care.
