The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund announced on October 8, 2026, that it has provided an AED2 million credit guarantee to Wisewell, a UAE-based company specialising in smart water purification systems. The guarantee will support the firm’s capital investments along with research and development to advance its internet-of-things technology for real-time monitoring of water quality and usage. According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the backing aligns with the fund’s goal of strengthening the UAE’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem with an emphasis on sustainable solutions.

Wisewell systems purify water at the point of use while delivering an alternative to single-use plastic bottles through advanced filtration that removes contaminants and restores essential minerals. The connected mobile application supplies users with immediate data on water quality, environmental impact and consumption levels for both households and commercial settings. This combination enables more informed choices that reduce plastic waste and logistical demands associated with bottled water.

The company reported that its technology has prevented more than 17.4 million single-use plastic bottles from reaching landfills to date. Wisewell gained selection into the Ministry of Economy’s Future100 initiative and advanced as a top 20 finalist in Majra’s Sustainable Impact Challenge 2025 run by the National Fund for Corporate Social Responsibility. These milestones illustrate the company’s progress since its founding in Dubai in 2021.

Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the UAE Ministry of Finance, Chief Innovation Officer and the Ministry’s representative at the fund, said the initiative remains committed to companies addressing environmental and health issues. “The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund remains committed to supporting innovative companies that contribute to the UAE’s future-focused and sustainability-driven economy. Wisewell represents a strong example of a home-grown UAE company leveraging advanced technology to address critical environmental and public health challenges through sustainable solutions. By supporting companies such as Wisewell in scaling their operations and accelerating innovation, we continue to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation and sustainable development,” Alnaqbi stated.

Sami Khoreibi, founder of Wisewell, welcomed the partnership as a key step in the firm’s growth trajectory. “The support from MBRIF marks an important milestone in Wisewell’s journey as we continue to transform how households and businesses access clean drinking water. We recognise the challenges associated with bottled water, including delivery, plastic waste, and unnecessary clutter. This funding lets us replace all three faster and keep building it here. This partnership enables us to accelerate our research and development efforts, expand our operational capabilities, and continue delivering measurable environmental and health benefits while continuing to build a UAE-grown technology platform with global potential,” Khoreibi said in the announcement.

Wisewell has raised approximately $3.6 million across earlier funding rounds according to PitchBook data, which supported refinement of a four-stage filtration process incorporating reverse osmosis, UV sterilization and remineralization via natural stones. The firm announced a partnership with Rosewood Abu Dhabi just prior to the fund’s guarantee to equip 58 serviced residential units with its systems for on-demand purified and mineral-enhanced water. This deployment extends the technology’s reach into the luxury hospitality segment while demonstrating practical applications beyond residential use.

World Resources Institute data places all six GCC countries among the 25 most water-stressed nations globally with each using over 80 percent of available renewable water resources annually. A study published in the journal Sustainability found that UAE residents consume more than 285 litres of bottled water per capita each year, resulting in approximately 88,000 tons of polyethylene terephthalate plastic used for single-use bottles. The Suqia UAE foundation, which oversees the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, reported that recognised innovations have benefited more than 14 million people across 26 countries since the program’s start in 2015.
