The Board of Directors of the General Pension and Social Security Authority convened its latest session to examine recent operational achievements and future priorities for the federal pension framework. According to the Emirates News Agency, the meeting chaired by Mubarak Rashid Al Mansouri placed emphasis on financial performance alongside advancements in artificial intelligence tools and multiple strategic projects aimed at service enhancement. Directors evaluated how these elements support the authority’s mandate amid rising participation in the pension scheme.
GPSSA figures show that the number of insured members climbed to 184,522 in the first quarter of 2026, an increase of 30,867 from the year-earlier period. Registered employers reached 24,667 during the same timeframe, up by 4,707, reflecting broader labor market expansion and greater confidence in the system. Pension expenditures totaled AED 2.6 billion, or roughly $708 million, marking a rise from AED 2.4 billion in the comparable quarter of 2025.
Discussions around AI adoption centered on integrating intelligent systems to improve accuracy in benefit processing and beneficiary support services. The review aligns with the UAE National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, which seeks complete reliance on AI for government services and data analysis while targeting substantial contributions to national GDP. National assessments place the UAE’s AI tool adoption rate at 97 percent, the highest recorded globally.
The board reviewed progress on strategic projects focused on digital infrastructure and long-term fund sustainability in response to demographic pressures. These efforts build on prior launches such as the Ma’ashi platform, which has delivered high on-time transaction completion rates across numerous services. Officials directed further coordination to ensure projects meet governance standards and deliver measurable efficiency gains.
Pensioners and beneficiaries stood at more than 50,000 by the close of 2025, with the total continuing to grow in line with workforce trends, GPSSA data indicates. Social security expenditures exceeded AED 6.6 billion for that year, encompassing pension payments, end-of-service benefits and other compensation categories. The authority maintains open data resources to support transparency and informed decision-making across its operations.
This evaluation forms part of the UAE’s wider push to embed advanced technologies within public institutions for enhanced productivity and resident services. The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy has driven training programs for federal employees and the creation of supportive legislation to govern AI applications. Such initiatives are projected to elevate workforce output by up to 40 percent in relevant sectors while reinforcing the pension system’s role in promoting social stability.
