The UAE Ministry of Defence announced the martyrdom of Major Abdalla Shamis Almenhali and candidate Saeed Abdalla Alshamsi while they carried out a training mission within the country. In its official statement the ministry identified the two servicemen by name and confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday. The announcement came hours after the event as authorities began procedures to notify relatives and prepare for military honors.
The ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the two martyrs according to the statement distributed by WAM. It prayed that God would grant the deceased His vast mercy and provide patience and solace to their relatives. Such expressions of sympathy form part of the standard response the ministry issues following any loss of life in the armed forces.
This latest loss adds to a series of training-related incidents that have affected UAE forces in recent years. WAM reported that a helicopter crash in March 2026 killed Captain Pilot Saeed Rashid Hamad Al Balushi and First Lieutenant Ali Saleh Ismail Al Tunaiji after a technical malfunction during a national duty flight. The ministry held a full military funeral for those officers at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi attended by senior commanders and family members.
Earlier WAM dispatches noted that four members of the armed forces were martyred and nine others injured in an accident on September 24, 2024 while performing their duty inside the country. Those figures reflect the hazards inherent in military preparedness even outside combat zones. The ministry has consistently used such announcements to reaffirm support for affected families and to underline the value placed on every service member.
The UAE Ministry of Defence channels all such updates through official agencies like WAM to maintain consistency and transparency. Senior officers typically attend funerals and related ceremonies that accord the martyrs full military honors. Procedures following these events also include investigations to determine causes and to apply any lessons that could improve future safety measures.
Regional cooperation has occasionally featured in responses to similar losses elsewhere in the Gulf. The UAE has previously conveyed solidarity and condolences to Kuwait and Egypt after their own military training accidents according to separate WAM statements. These exchanges highlight the shared commitment among neighboring states to honor fallen personnel and to strengthen collective security frameworks.
