The Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police held its inaugural dialogue session titled Together We Make a Difference with volunteers representing diverse communities and nationalities living in the emirate. The session aimed to strengthen the culture of volunteering, promote positive coexistence and reinforce social cohesion, according to the Dubai Police. Representatives from various departments involved in volunteering and community initiatives attended the event organised in collaboration with the Future Foresight Centre.
Fatima Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, emphasised that the dialogue session served as an important platform to listen to volunteers’ views and suggestions. “The Together We Make a Difference session reflects Dubai Police’s firm belief that constructive dialogue and partnership with the community are fundamental to advancing volunteer work and maximising its positive outcomes,” she stated. Bohjair’s comments came as part of broader efforts to embed positivity in community interactions.
Noura Al Blooshi, Head of the Future Planning Section at the Future Foresight Centre, highlighted several key themes addressed in the discussions. These included cultural diversity and its role in enriching the social fabric, positive coexistence as a core value in a multicultural society, and the impact of positive activities in reducing negative behaviours. Al Blooshi’s input tied such dialogues to practical safety campaigns that benefit residents across Dubai.
The Ministry of Interior has invited the public to participate in the nationwide Accident-Free Day initiative on August 31, coinciding with the first day of the 2026-2027 academic year. Registration opened on August 17 via a link on the ministry’s social media account, with compliant participants set to receive a four black point reduction on September 25 if they meet all conditions. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police and head of the initiative, stressed the importance of motorists and parents adhering to traffic rules, particularly around schools.
Bin Suwaidan called on road users to demonstrate patience, responsibility and cooperation to create a safe environment for students, parents and all road users. The campaign focuses on fundamental behaviours including vehicle safety checks, observing speed limits near schools, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, maintaining safe distances, giving priority to pedestrians and yielding to emergency vehicles. The Federal Traffic Council coordinates the effort with police forces across the UAE to promote compliance with traffic laws.
This dialogue forms part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional volunteering, expanding community engagement and embedding positivity as a sustainable approach that contributes to improving quality of life for all members of society, Dubai Police reported. Similar community forums have drawn thousands of participants in the past to gather feedback and promote values of tolerance. The combined activities support Dubai Police objectives for a more cohesive and safer emirate.
