The UAE’s federal entity responsible for corporate social responsibility and sustainable impact engaged in high-level discussions at the global investment forum held in the Indian city this week. Majra’s delegation, which included Economy and Tourism Minister Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri serving as chairman of its board of trustees, held strategic meetings with government officials, business leaders and investors from multiple countries. Sarah Shaw, chief executive of Majra, participated in the sessions that focused on aligning initiatives with environmental, social and governance criteria as well as United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The fund’s official account described the platform as an opportunity to exchange perspectives with decision-makers shaping future economies.

Majra’s LinkedIn update on the participation underscored the importance of multi-stakeholder approaches to scale initiatives that deliver measurable social value across borders. The UAE entity directs private-sector contributions toward projects that match national priorities while fostering collaboration among government, business, academia and philanthropic organizations. According to the fund’s published profile, it evaluates and recognizes CSR practices to build a culture of sustainable impact throughout the country and beyond. A separate PwC Middle East assessment of regional digital transformation noted that such frameworks have accelerated government-private sector alignment in the Gulf.

Bilateral non-oil trade between the UAE and India surpassed $85 billion last year, a figure the UAE Ministry of Economy cited as evidence of deepening economic integration that can extend into sustainability projects. World Bank data shows that cross-border sustainability partnerships in South Asia have supported progress on renewable energy and community resilience goals, with India recording annual green investment inflows averaging $12 billion since 2020. The Investopia forum served as a venue to explore how CSR funds can channel resources into joint ventures that address climate adaptation and social equity in both nations.

Majra concluded 2025 with multiple agreements that expanded its international footprint, including a memorandum with Emirates Nature-WWF to advance environmental programs during the UAE’s Year of Community, the fund reported in a year-end summary. Those accords emphasized youth empowerment, private-sector engagement and community mobilization to achieve systemic change in conservation and resource management. The Ahmedabad visit built on that momentum by targeting sectors where Indian and Emirati expertise can complement each other, particularly in clean technology and social entrepreneurship.

Additional context from the Central Statistical Bureau of the UAE places the country’s outbound development assistance and CSR spending at levels that have grown steadily since the establishment of dedicated national funds. Majra’s strategy for the coming five years includes 50 programs co-designed with private partners to support both domestic and overseas sustainable impact projects. Participants at the Indian event reviewed models for knowledge exchange that could inform future regulatory and investment frameworks in both countries.

The participation aligns with broader UAE efforts to position itself as a hub for responsible investment and to strengthen ties with key partners like India on global development agendas. Further meetings during the visit explored potential pilot projects in areas such as sustainable supply chains and impact measurement tools. Majra indicated that outcomes from the Ahmedabad engagements would feed into its ongoing work to unify efforts across sectors for long-term results.
