The Roads and Transport Authority inaugurated the northern bridge spanning 700 metres with two lanes in each direction at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street on Feb. 15. This opening which the authority described as RTA opens 700-metre, 4-lane bridge at intersection of Al Qudra Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street directly links key residential and commercial zones while addressing longstanding congestion points. The structure complements a 600-metre bridge unveiled the prior week at the nearby Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City junction according to an RTA statement. Officials noted that the new crossing forms an integral element of corridor upgrades designed to accommodate growing demand across multiple communities.
An RTA assessment found that the combined improvements have lifted the intersection’s vehicle capacity from 6600 to 19200 per hour representing a 192 percent increase. Delays at the site have dropped from 113 seconds to 52 seconds a 55 percent reduction the authority’s data shows. Travel times along the full Al Qudra corridor have fallen from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes equating to a 70 percent improvement. These gains stem from the addition of the bridge together with associated road widenings and service lanes.
The Roads and Transport Authority is executing the Al Qudra Road Development Project in line with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The initiative encompasses 2.7 kilometres of bridges in total along with 11.6 kilometres of road upgrades that include 3 kilometres of service roads 3.4 kilometres of lane expansions and 4.8 kilometres of new roadway. Further elements involve a 500-metre bridge toward Jebel Ali a 900-metre link to the city centre and Dubai International Airport plus auxiliary lanes and side ramps throughout the corridor.
According to RTA figures the project serves residential and development areas that together host an estimated 400000 residents and visitors daily. These include Arabian Ranches 1 and 2 Dubai Motor City Studio City DAMAC Hills Mudon and The Sustainable City. The authority’s planning has prioritised seamless connectivity across these communities which have expanded rapidly in recent years. Infrastructure additions such as the latest bridge aim to sustain mobility as population and economic activity continue to rise.
Mattar Al Tayer chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority stated in an announcement that the Al Qudra Road Development Project is being implemented in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to complete the development of road network infrastructure. The project supports smoother mobility he added while aligning with broader urban growth objectives across Dubai. Al Tayer’s comments underscored the systematic approach taken to integrate new crossings with existing networks.
The authority’s latest opening concludes a phase of the project that also features eight tunnels covering 900 metres in aggregate length. RTA data places the overall investment in upgraded capacity and safety features as central to maintaining efficient movement on one of Dubai’s primary arterial routes. Completion of the full scheme occurred in the first quarter of 2026 according to the authority’s project timeline.
