The Emirates News Agency reported that the National Drug Enforcement Authority has established a prevention and treatment system through its Hisn service to support affected individuals with full confidentiality. This forms a central element of the National Anti-Drugs Strategy 2024-2031 that focuses on modern tools to counter synthetic drugs and digital promotion. The authority collaborated with the UAE Government Media Office to launch the National Campaign for Drug Enforcement under the theme United as One to Eradicate the Threat. Officials positioned the campaign as a sustainable movement to build community resilience against trafficking and addiction.

The WAM dispatch detailed that the Hisn service at 80044 offers a safe haven for those seeking treatment and rehabilitation. The service guarantees absolute confidentiality along with complete privacy for callers at all times. It provides world-class medical and rehabilitation care together with total exemption from criminal liability. Such measures enable recovering individuals to reintegrate as productive members of society without stigma according to the authority’s framework.

Gulf Today reported that the Cabinet approved the National Anti-Drugs Strategy in November 2024 with a target of achieving a drug-free UAE by 2031. The plan includes programs to reduce mortality rates from drug use while strengthening awareness and border controls. It expands rehabilitation centres and promotes research into detection methods alongside international cooperation. Additional elements cover policies for the responsible use of prescription medications that carry addiction risks.

The WAM report outlined global challenges that have reshaped organised crime in drug trafficking. United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime data shows more than 1,200 new synthetic substances have been identified in illicit laboratories. These compounds dominate markets due to low production costs and ease of manufacture according to the agency. US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention figures link a substantial share of overdose deaths to synthetic opioids such as fentanyl which is 50 times more potent than heroin.

A US National Institute on Drug Abuse assessment found that substances like crystal meth can spike dopamine levels by up to 1,200 percent. This surge destroys natural receptors and creates compulsive dependency from the first use. United Nations reports place the global number of drug users aged 15 to 64 at 316 million. That total reflects a 28 percent rise over the past decade exceeding population growth rates.

The Emirates News Agency reported that the UAE leverages artificial intelligence and data analysis to monitor smuggling patterns across digital platforms. Security agencies track and dismantle drug-dealing accounts on social networks in coordination with international partners. Smart scanning systems at borders detect hidden chemical substances before entry. The strategy additionally builds partnerships with families and schools to deliver awareness programs that equip youth with refusal skills and early intervention techniques.
