The Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement opened the UAE National Pavilion on September 9 at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, according to a report from the Emirates News Agency. The 871-square-metre pavilion showcases Emirati expertise in defence, aerospace, maintenance repair and overhaul, and advanced technologies, with participating firms including EDGE Group, Generation 5 Holding, Abu Dhabi Aviation and Multi Level Group. Organised by ADNEC Group with support from the UAE Ministry of Defence, the display aims to position national industries within regional and international supply chains while fostering new collaborative opportunities across the defence sector.
Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement strengthens global defence cooperation at El Alamein Airshow 2026 through targeted engagements with international counterparts, the Emirates News Agency reported. The council, which drives industrial development and procurement for the UAE’s defence sector, uses the platform to facilitate knowledge exchange and explore partnerships that enhance technological capabilities. This participation aligns with the airshow’s role as a key gathering for aerospace, defence and space stakeholders in Africa and the Middle East, an event launched in 2024 and backed by Egypt’s Ministry of Defence, Air Force, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Space Agency and EgyptAir.
The El Alamein International Airshow occupies 125,000 square metres at El Alamein International Airport in Egypt’s Matrouh Governorate, according to organisers cited by Ahram Online. It includes static displays, flying demonstrations, an industry exhibition and a dedicated symposium on aerospace technologies held the day prior to the main event. More than 50 countries are represented, drawing government officials, military delegations and industry leaders focused on topics ranging from air defence systems to unmanned aerial vehicles and artificial intelligence applications.
UAE companies at the pavilion are presenting solutions in aviation, unmanned systems and future technologies, the Emirates News Agency stated. EDGE Group and Abu Dhabi Aviation highlight their portfolios in aerial services and advanced platforms, while Generation 5 Holding emphasises innovation in maintenance and related fields. The unified national presence underscores the growth of the UAE defence industrial base, which has expanded through strategic investments and international collaborations in recent years.
Similar efforts by the Tawazun Council at other global exhibitions, such as Eurosatory earlier in 2026, have focused on broadening partnerships and integrating into worldwide value chains, according to separate reports from the same news agency. Those engagements involved bilateral meetings with government entities and research institutions to advance national capabilities in defence technologies. At El Alamein, the council continues this approach by connecting with participants from diverse markets to address evolving security and industrial demands.
The airshow also features prominent displays from other nations, including Russia’s presentation of Su-57E fighters and air defence systems as well as China’s debut of J-16 aircraft and supporting platforms, defence industry analyses from Janes and other outlets indicated. Such participation highlights the event’s significance as a venue for demonstrating operational capabilities and exploring export opportunities across Africa and the Middle East. Tawazun’s leadership of the UAE pavilion contributes to the broader objective of elevating the country’s profile within this competitive landscape.
