The National Academy for Childhood Development announced the launch of the new summer edition of the Jeel 71 Programme targeting young residents during their school vacation. According to the academy the programme is designed to inculcate authentic Emirati values and cultivate diverse life skills among participants. The previous summer edition proved highly popular drawing more than 322 children from across the UAE a Media Office report showed. This new iteration aims to build on that success with enhanced activities and wider reach.

A related winter programme which followed the successful summer session was held in Abu Dhabi until Dec. 18 and in the Al Dhafra Region from Dec. 22 to 25 the National Academy for Childhood Development reported. That winter edition offered an enriching and engaging experience for children mirroring the goals of the summer programme. The consistent demand for these seasonal initiatives reflects the community’s interest in structured activities that support youth development during breaks from school.

The National Academy for Childhood Development aims to provide educational and training programs as well as continuous education focused on childhood development according to an overview of the academy. This Jeel 71 Programme forms a core part of those efforts connecting the younger generation to the nation’s heritage since the UAE’s formation in 1971. Organizers have emphasized the importance of such programmes in fostering well-rounded individuals equipped with both cultural knowledge and practical abilities.

Supporting these initiatives the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority has stressed the critical nature of early investments in child development. A video presentation on the authority’s work noted that 90 percent of brain development occurs before age 5 highlighting why comprehensive programmes extending into later childhood are valuable. The academy’s work complements broader national strategies to prioritize family and child support services.

On July 17 2026 the Ministry of Family partnered with the National Academy for Childhood Development to advance child and family support across the UAE according to a report from mid-east.info. This partnership is expected to bolster the resources and impact of programmes like Jeel 71. The collaboration underscores the government’s commitment to holistic development for the country’s youngest citizens through coordinated institutional efforts.

The Jeel 71 Programme encourages children to engage with their cultural roots while acquiring skills that will serve them in the future the academy has indicated in its descriptions of the initiative. Participation in previous editions has shown positive outcomes in terms of increased knowledge and personal confidence among attendees. With the new summer edition now underway more families are anticipated to take advantage of the opportunities provided.
