The Ministry of Education has organised more than 80 targeted programmes and hybrid workshops for the training week, the ministry said. These sessions will cover key areas including artificial intelligence integration in classrooms, inclusive education practices, academic mentoring, data-driven assessment and leadership skills. The initiative aims to align UAE educators with global advancements in teaching methodologies and technologies.
A specific track has been created for 1,700 school leaders, which includes 500 principals and 1,200 vice principals, according to the ministry’s announcement. The Leadership Competencies Lab forms a flagship component, concentrating on data-driven decision-making, the application of artificial intelligence tools and strengthening school culture around national identity and Emirati values. This dedicated pathway seeks to enhance administrative capabilities across the education system.
The training curriculum also addresses school life quality, gifted student development, school safety, the sciences of learning, institutional excellence, innovation and multi-level support models, the ministry reported. Workshops will be delivered by subject matter experts in both in-person and virtual formats to maximise participation. Such comprehensive coverage ensures all aspects of educational delivery receive attention ahead of the new term.
This year’s programme builds upon previous editions of the Specialised Training Week, including one in August 2024 that engaged 23,000 educational staff with 64 workshops totalling 189 training hours, earlier ministry statements show. The participant numbers reflect ongoing investment in professional development for the public education sector. Dubai’s private schools will see 27,284 teachers return to work this week, with women comprising 78 per cent of that workforce, according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
The Professional Development Department supervises the implementation, ensuring alignment with national education priorities and performance indicators, the ministry explained. Training needs are analysed based on educator feedback and global standards to design relevant content. This structured approach supports the delivery of workshops that meet approved criteria.
Officials noted that the training will prepare staff for the new academic year that begins shortly after the week concludes, the ministry said. The event runs through August 28 with sessions available across multiple formats to accommodate all participants. The ministry has encouraged full engagement from school leaders, teachers, advisors and support staff involved.
