The International Charity Organisation said in an announcement that the campaign will start with a planet-friendly school meals programme in Kenya before it expands across the region. This forms part of broader efforts to fight classroom hunger and boost learning outcomes for underprivileged children. The group has a track record of implementing hundreds of educational projects worldwide.
According to ICO figures the value of its humanitarian and development projects exceeded AED353 million in the first half of 2026. Education remains a core focus for the Ajman-based charity, which has provided assistance to thousands of students through previous back-to-school drives. The new campaign will also seek donations to fund the construction of additional classrooms and the provision of scholastic materials.
A report on the organisation’s activities indicated that it spent AED195 million on humanitarian projects throughout 2025, including significant allocations for education both inside the UAE and abroad. Inside the UAE the projects benefited thousands of families with support for tuition fees and school supplies. The charity operates under a vision to promote sustainable resources and the culture of giving.
UNESCO statistics place the number of out-of-school children in sub-Saharan Africa at nearly 100 million, underscoring the scale of need for interventions like the one now underway. The International Charity Organisation has partnered with local entities in past campaigns to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable communities. Officials have highlighted how such programmes contribute to long-term development by improving literacy rates and reducing poverty.
Dubai Cares, another UAE philanthropic body, has reached approximately 117 million beneficiaries with its global education initiatives, according to its published data. The International Charity Organisation’s latest drive aligns with the UAE’s overall commitment to international humanitarian work. The campaign is expected to mobilise resources from donors across the country.
The organisation maintains active campaigns throughout the year, including summer programmes that address various needs of students during school breaks. Its 2026 efforts build upon successes seen in earlier years where similar initiatives led to measurable improvements in school attendance. Continued support from the UAE community will be key to achieving the targets set for this year.
