The Sharjah Government Media Bureau announced the opening of entries for the 13th edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Award, which features dedicated categories for impactful digital content and changemakers. Submissions opened on July 1 and run through September 22 via the official portal, according to the bureau. The competition spans 23 categories across government strategy, innovation and individual excellence while targeting participants from the UAE, the wider region and international organizations.
Individual awards form a core part of the program and include the Best Changemakers in Digital Content category split between under-18 and over-18 segments. The lineup also recognizes best youth initiatives in government communication, outstanding official spokespersons and notable research in communication sciences. The Sharjah Government Media Bureau designed these honors to spotlight personal contributions that advance societal goals through effective messaging.
Institutional entries can address integrated communication systems, innovation in government practices, crisis communication strategies and themes ranging from cultural identity to digital sustainability. Youth empowerment, corporate social responsibility, internal communications and technology integration represent additional focus areas in the direct submission tracks. This structure builds on the award’s established role in elevating communication standards, a Gulf Today assessment found.
The Sharjah Government Communication Award has expanded its global reach since earlier editions, which drew entries from across the Arab world and helped position Sharjah as a hub for communication excellence. Previous iterations emphasized trust-building and social development through strategic engagement, according to bureau overviews of past cycles. The 13th edition continues this trajectory by incorporating collaborative awards with international partners and a segment for smart communication innovators.
Communication professionals, social influencers, students and media practitioners stand among those eligible to enter across the various sectors. The bureau encourages submissions that demonstrate tangible impact and innovative approaches to public engagement. Winners will receive recognition at an official ceremony scheduled after the closure of entries.
