Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Dinas Health Clinic in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday. The Emirates News Agency reported that the facility forms part of the Sharjah Charity Association’s “Health for All” initiative in cooperation with UAE foreign aid programmes. The clinic will provide essential medical services to more than 10,000 local residents who previously faced limited access to healthcare in the remote area. Philippine local officials joined the Sharjah delegation for the event that underscored ongoing humanitarian cooperation between the UAE and the Philippines.

The newly opened facility includes dedicated medical consultation rooms, a diagnostic laboratory, a fully stocked pharmacy and an emergency treatment department. According to the Emirates News Agency, these components will enable comprehensive primary care and immediate response capabilities for the surrounding communities. The project reflects a targeted approach to addressing healthcare gaps in underserved regions where infrastructure constraints have long restricted service availability. Local health authorities in Zamboanga del Norte are expected to operate the clinic under standards aligned with national Philippine guidelines.

Sharjah Charity International figures show the association implemented more than 11,000 humanitarian and development projects in the first half of 2026 at a cost exceeding Dh139.8 million. These initiatives spanned construction, education, health and relief efforts across several countries, with health programmes forming a consistent priority in the organisation’s international portfolio. The Dinas clinic adds to a pattern of medical infrastructure projects that the association has executed to improve access in Asia and Africa. Mohammed Rashid Bin Bayat, vice chairman of the Sharjah Charity Association board, has highlighted the broad scope of such work in supporting sustainable community development.

In remarks during the inauguration, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi stated that the UAE is keen to support the health sector in friendly countries to contribute to achieving sustainable development. He added that such projects embody the values of solidarity and humanitarian responsibility that guide Emirati assistance programmes worldwide. The statement came as Philippine representatives expressed appreciation for the UAE’s consistent support in health and education sectors. The event also featured participation from the governor of Zamboanga del Norte and the mayor of Dinas who outlined how the clinic would integrate with existing provincial health networks.

The Sharjah Charity Association has maintained a strong focus on medical aid, providing more than Dh23.5 million to treat 799 patients with conditions including cancer and kidney failure during the same period in 2026. Its international blindness prevention campaign has performed nearly 15,000 sight-saving surgeries since 2007 across multiple nations according to association records. These programmes demonstrate the scale of health-focused interventions that complement infrastructure projects such as the new Philippine clinic. Officials noted that the Dinas facility will help reduce the burden on regional hospitals by offering localised preventive and curative services.

Philippine health data indicates that rural provinces like Zamboanga del Norte continue to face challenges in physician availability and diagnostic resources, making external support critical for improving outcomes. The clinic’s laboratory and pharmacy components are expected to streamline treatment for common ailments while enabling faster emergency interventions. Integration with national health insurance schemes will further extend its reach to low-income families in the area. The inauguration marks another milestone in bilateral ties that have seen UAE entities support various community projects in the Philippines over the past decade.
