The Emirates News Agency reported that reigning T100 World Champion Kate Waugh has praised the Dubai Fitness Challenge for encouraging residents and visitors to adopt more active lifestyles. In an official statement issued by the organising committee, Waugh said, “I think it’s an amazing initiative. Getting a whole city moving for 30 minutes a day for 30 days is such a simple idea, but having visited Dubai last year you can really see the impact it’s having.” She added that the T100 Triathlon World Tour shares similar goals of making the sport accessible and exciting while getting more people involved.
Waugh noted that racing in Dubai during the challenge period makes the location especially meaningful, the Emirates News Agency reported. The professional women’s race at the Dubai T100 Triathlon is scheduled for November 14 at Al Mamzar. This event serves as the final scoring opportunity for women before the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final set for December 10 to 12 in Doha.
The tenth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge runs from October 31 to November 29 and challenges participants to complete 30 minutes of physical activity each day for 30 days, according to the Emirates News Agency. The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council organise the programme. A report from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism placed participation in the 2025 edition at more than 3 million people.
Cumulative participation across all editions of the Dubai Fitness Challenge has surpassed 16 million since its launch in 2017, according to figures from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. The 2025 edition featured a record 307,000 runners at the Dubai Run presented by Mai Dubai, which represented a 307 percent increase from the inaugural 2019 event. Such growth demonstrates the expanding reach of community-focused fitness programming in the emirate.
The Dubai T100 Triathlon weekend has shifted to Al Mamzar this year, offering a new course that incorporates the waterfront and passes through historic districts before concluding in Al Mamzar Park, the Professional Triathletes Organisation stated. Amateur races now include Sprint, Olympic and full T100 distances in addition to relay options. Free spectator access throughout the event is designed to maximise community engagement during the overlapping fitness challenge.
Waugh will compete in the professional women’s field at Al Mamzar as part of a competitive series that has designated the T100 as the official long-distance triathlon world championship, World Triathlon data shows. Her participation aligns the elite competition with the mass participation ethos of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Organisers anticipate that the combined calendar will contribute to sustained interest in physical activity throughout November.
