The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development has posted a 93 per cent satisfaction rate for its work in addressing consumer complaints, the authority said in its latest performance update. RAK DED reports 93% satisfaction in handling consumer complaints, reflecting positive outcomes from its dispute resolution procedures. The metric derives from surveys conducted with parties involved in the complaints process throughout the reporting period. Department officials highlighted streamlined procedures as a key factor in achieving the strong result.
Supporting data from the RAK DED shows that the department resolved 347 consumer complaints in the first quarter of the year, contributing to overall high approval ratings. In 2025, the authority recorded more than 31,000 consumer complaints across its operations, according to department statistics, demonstrating the scale of its work in the consumer protection field. The integration of digital platforms has facilitated faster processing times, which the department said has boosted consumer confidence.
A regional economic review by Deloitte on GCC markets found that effective complaint handling mechanisms correlate with higher levels of business trust and investment inflows. The RAK DED’s results align with this pattern, positioning the emirate favourably within the UAE’s economic landscape. Such performance metrics are monitored closely by federal authorities to ensure consistent standards across emirates.
The authority has focused on training its staff in mediation techniques and consumer law, leading to more amicable resolutions that satisfy both consumers and businesses. Feedback collected post-resolution forms the basis for the satisfaction percentage, the department explained. This methodical approach has allowed the RAK DED to maintain high standards even as complaint volumes fluctuate.
Ras Al Khaimah’s economy has diversified significantly in recent years, with the Department of Economic Development playing a central role in regulating commercial activities, government reports indicate. The high satisfaction rate in consumer affairs supports the emirate’s reputation as a business-friendly destination. Continued investment in consumer services has helped sustain this positive trend based on prior performance data.
In parallel, the RAK DED reported completing 27,000 electronic transactions in 2025. This digital shift has allowed consumers to submit and track complaints online with ease. The department said the move has reinforced its ability to deliver satisfactory outcomes consistently.
