Dubai Municipality said in a statement that it delivered nearly 183,700 veterinary healthcare, treatment, preventive and regulatory services during the first half of 2026 through its advanced public health ecosystem. The total reflects ongoing efforts to support animal welfare while protecting residents from potential zoonotic diseases in a growing urban environment. The authority manages these operations alongside licensed private facilities to ensure comprehensive coverage across the emirate.

According to the municipality’s announcement, specific outputs included 6,585 vaccinations for cats and dogs, 4,100 pet registrations completed, 298 animals placed for adoption and 2,274 stray animals that received treatment and rehabilitation. Vaccination programs targeted rabies in both species while adding DHPPi for dogs and FVRCP for cats as standard preventive care. These figures form part of a wider suite of services that also encompass health certificates for livestock and strict pet entry regulations.

A Dubai Municipality release noted that 176 private veterinary facilities now hold licences to operate in support of these goals. The breakdown covers 103 comprehensive veterinary clinics, 67 primary care clinics, two specialist clinics, three comprehensive veterinary hospitals and one specialist hospital. This infrastructure expands access to care beyond the authority’s own network of clinics.

Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafie said in the statement that Dubai Municipality’s integrated and sustainable veterinary services play a vital role in protecting animal and public health. He added, “We remain committed to continuously enhancing our veterinary services.” The official outlined how such measures align with international best practices for disease prevention and responsible ownership.

The statement explained that pet adoptions arranged by the municipality adhere to defined eligibility rules for prospective owners. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, maintain a clean record with no animal abuse violations and complete an in-person clinical examination before final approval. Processes run through the official website and smart application, which also promote microchipping, regular vaccinations and issuance of health certificates for adopted animals.

In a comparable update covering only April 2026, Dubai Municipality reported examining more than 76,000 animals, treating over 12,000 cases and performing more than 22,000 veterinary inspections, its official social media channels indicated. The authority’s veterinary services section maintains dedicated clinics in areas such as Al Khawaneej, Al Lisaili and Hatta to deliver these functions efficiently. Its website lists the full range of preventive and curative offerings available to both pet owners and commercial livestock operators.
