The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority extended an invitation to participants of the Arab Media Summit to discover its initiatives in sustainability and innovation. According to the Emirates News Agency the visitors will have the opportunity to tour prominent facilities such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This engagement comes as DEWA serves as the Strategic Sustainability Partner for the event organised by the Dubai Press Club.
The solar park has achieved a record capacity of 3,860 megawatts DEWA figures show. This represents more than 21 per cent of the utility’s total power generation. Plans are in place to expand it beyond 8,000 megawatts by 2030 surpassing the initial target of 5,000 megawatts in support of the updated clean energy goals.
A government platform indicates that the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy now aims for clean energy to account for 36 per cent of the energy mix by 2030 up from the original 25 per cent. The strategy ultimately seeks 100 per cent clean energy by 2050. These targets align with the UAE’s broader net zero ambition for the same year.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer managing director and chief executive of DEWA highlighted the media’s role in advancing sustainability awareness. In a statement carried by WAM Al Tayer said “The Arab Media Summit provides a strategic opportunity to highlight DEWA’s efforts in advancing sustainability accelerating the energy transition and supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.” He added that the partnership enables engagement with the community on environmental responsibility and net zero goals.
DEWA will showcase a scale model of its forthcoming Al Shera’a headquarters during the summit. The building is set to be the tallest net-positive energy government structure worldwide and will pursue top-tier environmental certifications. This project exemplifies the authority’s commitment to integrating innovation into its infrastructure development.
The Arab Media Summit is anticipated to attract over 8,000 media professionals policymakers and influencers from across the Arab world and internationally. Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre the event fosters dialogue on the media industry’s contribution to sustainable development. DEWA’s involvement continues a longstanding collaboration with the Dubai Press Club on initiatives that promote environmental awareness. The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has reviewed progress showing reduced greenhouse gas emissions in 2025 tied to higher clean energy shares and better resource management.
