Rashed Al Mulla continues to make history in Aquabike Freestyle by securing maximum points in the opening round of the 2026 season. The Team Abu Dhabi rider topped the qualifying session before posting a score of 227 points in the first moto with a routine that included technical manoeuvres and consecutive backflips, according to a WAM report. He followed that with another strong performance in the second moto to collect the full 50 points available and move to the top of the standings. The Emirates News Agency added that his display underlined his status as one of the discipline’s leading figures.
Data from the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship shows that Al Mulla has claimed world titles in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024. The Emirati athlete finished as runner-up in the 2023 and 2025 seasons, both times to Italy’s Roberto Mariani. With one round remaining in Olbia, Italy, from October 16 to 18, Al Mulla holds a strong position to secure a seventh crown.
Al Mulla, a 39-year-old government official from Sharjah, began competing at the elite level more than a decade ago. He resides in the UAE and rides for the Abu Dhabi team, which has supported his development through consistent resources and training. The championship website lists his height at 171 centimetres and weight at 67 kilogrammes, details that align with the physical demands of high-speed freestyle routines.
The Shanghai event drew competitors from multiple nations and served as the first of two rounds in the 2026 calendar. Al Mulla’s two moto victories came against a field that included past podium finishers such as Massimo Accumulo and Yassine Fadli, a UIM summary indicated. His routines emphasised control, variety and difficulty, factors that judges weighed in assigning scores.
The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has backed Al Mulla throughout his career, contributing to his record of six world championships in the category. A review of UIM historical records places him among the most decorated athletes in aquabike freestyle since the early 2010s. His latest result adds to the UAE’s growing tally of international marine sports successes.
Governing body statistics show participation in the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship has expanded in recent years, with increased entries in the freestyle division. The sport combines elements of technical riding and artistic performance, attracting broader audiences through events staged in Asia and Europe. Al Mulla’s consistent results have helped raise the profile of Emirati competitors on that global stage.
