The memorandum of understanding signed between Ajman Digital, the Municipality of Ajman and CPX seeks to enhance protection of digital assets while fostering collaboration on security matters, according to a report by the Emirates News Agency. The pact includes provisions for joint initiatives aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness among residents and developing local expertise through targeted programs. Officials from the three parties outlined plans for coordinated efforts that will address emerging threats to municipal services and digital platforms in the emirate.

Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi witnessed the signing ceremony, the Emirates News Agency reported. Eng. Khalid Al Suwaidi represented Ajman Digital while Eng. Mohamed Ahmed Al Nuaimi signed on behalf of the municipality with a senior executive from CPX completing the agreement. The pact builds on CPX’s established role as a provider of cyber and physical security solutions across the UAE, a company statement from an earlier partnership noted.

A Positive Technologies assessment found that the UAE accounted for 35 percent of all cyberattacks recorded across the Gulf region in the first half of 2026, positioning the country as the most targeted in the area. Government agencies represented the most affected sector at 27 percent of successful attacks, the Positive Technologies study showed. The first quarter of the year saw 96 percent of incidents, a concentration researchers linked to heightened regional tensions.

Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, disclosed that the country faced 640,000 cyberattacks in a single day, a figure he shared during the Arab Media Summit in September 2026. Al Kuwaiti warned that such incidents increasingly target critical infrastructure including electricity, water and economic systems. He stressed that awareness serves as the first line of defense against evolving threats that now include AI-enhanced methods.

CPX has supported similar cybersecurity enhancements through prior agreements with UAE federal bodies including the National Cyber Security Council, according to announcements from those collaborations. Those earlier partnerships focused on assessing cyber maturity and implementing solutions aligned with national standards across government entities. The Ajman agreement extends that model to the local level by integrating municipal and digital authority operations.

The collaboration arrives as the UAE continues its digital transformation, which has expanded the attack surface for both state and non-state actors, a Gulf News review of the Positive Technologies data indicated. Industrial sectors followed government targets in vulnerability, accounting for 17 percent of attacks in the Positive Technologies breakdown. Half of those industrial incidents occurred in Saudi Arabia, the report detailed.
