ADNOC said in a statement that 15 of its vessels have been attacked by missiles and drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the conflict. The company reported that three vessels were attacked this week alone resulting in one crew member killed and 20 others injured. ADNOC added that the assaults have significantly impacted its people and assets as the firm seeks to maintain supplies to customers in an exceptionally challenging environment.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company confirmed one of its vessels was targeted by a missile during passage through the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC stated that all the affected ships were engaged in standard transit operations at the time according to its records. The latest update brings the total number of targeted vessels to 15 since February 2026 the company reported.

UAE authorities strongly condemned the targeting of the ADNOC tanker describing it as a serious violation of international maritime law. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs attributed one incident to two drones striking the vessel while it moved through the waterway. Officials noted the action represents a threat to global energy security in their assessment.

Data from the US Energy Information Administration places the volume of oil transiting the Strait of Hormuz at roughly one fifth of global consumption. The waterway between Iran and Oman functions as a primary chokepoint for energy shipments worldwide according to the agency’s figures. Disruptions there carry the potential to affect international markets the statistics indicate.

ADNOC continues to operate its fleet amid the reported threats the company said in the announcement. The national oil producer has emphasised its focus on crew safety while navigating the current conditions in the Gulf. Shipping industry reports have tracked an uptick in such maritime incidents in the region over recent months.

The attacks form part of a broader pattern that began earlier this year the ADNOC statement indicated. Company officials have characterised the actions against its vessels as unprovoked in the latest release. This disclosure arrives as regional tensions have drawn international attention to security in the Strait of Hormuz.
