Organisers at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition have integrated archery demonstrations and training sessions into the programme to revive skills that once formed a core part of Emirati hunting practices. Participants of all ages learn fundamental techniques for bow handling and accuracy while exploring the historical role of archery alongside horsemanship in desert pursuits. According to a WAM report the activities emphasise ethical approaches to heritage sports and encourage families to engage together in hands-on experiences. The exhibition which opened on August 28 and runs through September 6 has drawn on these elements to strengthen cultural continuity.

ADNEC Group which organises the event in partnership with the Emirates Falconers’ Club reported that the 2026 edition spans 15 specialised sectors covering equestrian activities falconry hunting equipment and cultural preservation. Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri Group CEO of ADNEC Group said that preserving Emirati and Arab heritage and introducing it to new generations have been among the exhibition’s core objectives since its inception. The Knowledge Hub has hosted related educational sessions including presentations on traditional navigation and interactive simulations that complement the archery focus. Such programming aligns with the broader goal of transferring knowledge across age groups while incorporating modern interpretations of heritage practices.

WAM reported that the Young Hunters and Riders Village offers children opportunities to explore falconry basics horse care and simulated hunting scenarios alongside the archery components. These village activities have attracted significant participation from school groups and families seeking to expose younger visitors to authentic Emirati customs. Organisers noted that the interactive format helps build awareness of environmental conservation alongside cultural education. The combination has contributed to the exhibition’s role as a platform for community engagement during the designated Year of the Family.

Al Dhaheri stated that ADIHEX serves as a unique global model for utilising cultural heritage to drive sustainable development supporting growth in hunting equestrian and eco-tourism sectors. International auctions for falcons purebred horses and related items have created additional economic opportunities for breeders and entrepreneurs according to ADNEC Group data. The event has also boosted Abu Dhabi’s hospitality and tourism sectors through its influx of visitors from within the UAE and abroad. Previous editions as documented in regional reports welcomed thousands of students for similar heritage-focused tours and workshops.

The exhibition’s emphasis on live demonstrations extends to Saluki dog handling traditional craftsmanship and majlis etiquette sessions that reinforce the archery and horsemanship themes. ADNEC Group figures show expanding youth programming has become a central element with dedicated morning activities for children to foster curiosity about their legacy. This approach has helped position ADIHEX as one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the MENA region since its launch in 2003. Event officials have highlighted the record international participation in the current edition across the multiple sectors on display.
