The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department organised multiple awareness lectures and family-focused activities across the emirate this year as part of its expanded community engagement under the national Year of the Family designation. These efforts centre on promoting psychological security, mutual respect and practical skills for resolving domestic challenges while integrating legal guidance into everyday support services. The programmes reached residents through both in-person gatherings at majlis venues and larger public events at malls and forums. According to the Emirates News Agency, the initiatives follow directives from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to enhance direct interaction with communities and address factors that influence household stability.
An awareness lecture titled “The Reassured Family” took place at Shaab Al Ashkhar Majlis in Al Ain under the department’s “Majalisna” initiative in coordination with the Citizens and Community Affairs Office. Senior family counsellor Dr Turki Al Qahtani delivered the session, which examined reassurance as a foundation for social and emotional wellbeing that extends beyond financial factors to encompass belonging and appreciation among relatives. The presentation reviewed core values such as compassion, trust and tolerance that reduce conflict and foster dialogue inside the home. A Big News Network dispatch indicated the lecture formed one element of sustained efforts to raise quality of life and reinforce societal foundations through targeted community discussions.
The department marked International Day of Families on 15 May with a three-day programme at Dalma Mall that featured a guidance hub offering counselling, a children’s digital awareness zone with educational games and panel talks on positive parenting techniques. Additional zones displayed crafts produced by participants in correctional rehabilitation programmes to illustrate pathways for social reintegration and skill development. The activities aligned with the broader Year of the Family theme by emphasising the household’s contribution to social solidarity and individual resilience. Big News Network coverage placed the event within a series of ongoing department projects that adapt to all demographic groups and promote balanced family dynamics.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2026 the Year of the Family during a November 2025 government meeting, establishing a national task force of over 20 entities to implement the National Family Growth Agenda 2031. Khaleej Times reporting shows the agenda targets policy reviews, behavioural studies and health measures to counter an 11 per cent drop in the Emirati birth rate between 2015 and 2022 while supporting different life stages from engagement through senior years. The official UAE government portal details priorities that encompass marriage incentives, extended parental leave, family-friendly workplace standards and community events that embed daily practices of connection and shared responsibility.
Parallel programmes by other authorities added scale to the national campaign, with Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department recording more than 64,000 participants in its Family Pulse initiative through 1,417 activities by July 2026. Emirati Times accounts state these sessions addressed excessive device use, generational communication gaps and conflict resolution while promoting values such as responsibility and constructive dialogue in mosques and online formats. Such coordinated work across institutions supplements the judicial department’s legal and counselling focus with faith-based and educational components that reach wider audiences throughout the year.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department further contributed by joining the Fifth Abu Dhabi Family Forum in December 2025, where it presented workshops on marital stability and family success alongside exhibits of inmate handicrafts. A Zawya summary noted that these elements highlighted rehabilitation achievements and encouraged public appreciation for restorative approaches that maintain family links during incarceration. Participation in the book fair and similar venues allowed the department to distribute publications, offer consultations and promote amicable dispute resolution resources. These combined actions support the sustained national framework that extends the Year of the Family priorities into long-term policy and service design through 2031.
