Oman Sail stated that the event first held in 2011 marked its 15th anniversary this year and has grown into a key fixture for developing regional sailing talent. The competition provided young athletes with experience against international opposition under conditions that tested both skill and consistency. A prize-giving ceremony followed the conclusion of all races to recognise performers across the various divisions.
Reports on the opening days of the regatta from Live Sail Die indicated strong performances in the Optimist class by Omani sailors such as Khaled Yahya Al Sarihi who recorded multiple wins while UAE and other regional competitors remained in contention for podium places. Similar patterns emerged in the ILCA categories where sailors from Egypt and the UAE achieved early successes that carried through the week. These daily outcomes contributed to the overall tally that delivered five podium finishes for the Team Abu Dhabi contingent.
The Emirates News Agency noted that the team’s participation reflected its ongoing commitment to building on prior positive results in international sailing events. Cumulative scoring across the four days of competition ultimately produced the podium placements for the Abu Dhabi sailors in their respective classes. Organisers emphasised the role of such regattas in promoting sportsmanship and elevating standards among junior competitors from across the region.
Publicity around the 15th Mussanah Race Week from Oman Sail highlighted its function as a platform that unites Arab nations in sailing while preparing athletes for larger global regattas. The event’s structure allowed for separate tracking of the Arab Women’s Sailing Championship results alongside the main competition. Data from previous editions shows consistent growth in participant numbers and competitive depth since the inaugural staging in 2011.
