WAM reported that H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held the telephone call with Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah during which the two reviewed the latest developments in the region. The ministers addressed an Iranian attack that targeted Kuwait with missiles and drones resulting in one death multiple injuries and damage to vital facilities including Kuwait International Airport and diplomatic missions. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement emphasised full solidarity with Kuwait and support for all measures taken to safeguard its security and stability.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed affirmed during the call that the security of Kuwait forms an integral part of the security of the UAE and the Gulf Arab states according to the WAM dispatch. He described the Iranian action as a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws that constitutes a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional security and stability. The two sides stressed the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to counter such threats.
The conversation took place against the backdrop of robust bilateral relations that extend beyond security matters to encompass significant economic cooperation. Times Kuwait reported in September 2026 that trade exchange between Kuwait and the UAE reached AED55.5 billion in 2025 marking an 11.3 percent increase from the prior year. The UAE Ambassador to Kuwait Matar Hamed Al Neyadi provided those figures while meeting with Emirati companies operating in the Kuwaiti market.
Al Neyadi highlighted that UAE imports from Kuwait rose 17 percent in 2025 while re-exports increased by 3 percent as part of the same assessment published by Times Kuwait. Bilateral trade for the first quarter of 2026 stood at approximately AED13 billion roughly matching the volume from the equivalent period a year earlier. The ambassador characterised the Kuwaiti market as one of the region’s most promising investment destinations supported by investment-friendly legislation.
Arabian Business cited UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi in February 2026 stating that non-oil trade reached $14.8 billion in 2025 with year-on-year growth of 9.1 percent. The minister noted that mutual investments had surpassed $10 billion by the end of 2024 with more than 60 percent directed from the UAE to Kuwait. Those remarks were delivered at the UAE-Kuwait Economic Forum organised in Dubai to bolster trade and investment links.
Undersecretary at Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry Marwa Al Jaidan pointed to more than 170 weekly flights connecting the two countries as a driver of tourism growth during the same forum according to reports from Arabian Business. Al Jaidan identified industry energy advanced technologies logistics and tourism as priority sectors for expanded public and private partnerships. Such economic indicators illustrate the depth of ties that complement the diplomatic and security coordination addressed in the June 3 phone call.
