The Emirates News Agency reported that TRENDS Global, part of TRENDS Group, joined the international conference Knights of the Message – Leaders of the Moral Journey through its office in Jordan. The event took place in Amman under the organisation of the Knights of Peace group and assembled researchers, academics and officials from various Arab and regional countries. Alia Darwish Al Nuaimi, senior researcher at TRENDS, delivered a paper that reviewed the UAE approach to coexistence. WAM added that the presentation positioned tolerance as both a national value and an instrument for broader international engagement.
Al Nuaimi traced the roots of tolerance in the UAE to the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, according to the Emirates News Agency. The founding leader’s emphasis on societal building and viewpoint convergence laid the groundwork for policies that promote coexistence among diverse groups. The paper described how these principles became embedded in the national framework over time. Such historical grounding has allowed the model to influence both domestic harmony and external relations.
The Emirates News Agency stated that the presentation outlined the shift toward institutional and legislative support for tolerance and coexistence. This included the establishment of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence as well as the launch of the National Tolerance Programme. Legislation targeting discrimination, hatred and extremism formed additional pillars of the approach. Al Nuaimi explained that these structures enabled a transition from internal application to wider diplomatic use.
WAM noted that the UAE experience extended tolerance into foreign policy through interfaith dialogue, mediation, humanitarian initiatives and multilateral cooperation. The strategy has bolstered the country’s soft power and international profile. TRENDS Research & Advisory has maintained an active presence in Jordan since opening its virtual office in Amman in September 2025. The office has organised panel discussions on the integration of research, academic and media institutions to aid decision-making processes.
TRENDS Research & Advisory announcements indicate that the Jordan office signed a research cooperation agreement with the STRATEGIECS Institute shortly after its launch to advance futures studies and expertise sharing. The partnership includes work on training, opinion polls and strategic analysis of regional issues. Participation in the Knights of the Message conference continues this pattern of engagement with Jordanian and Arab partners on themes of moral leadership and peace. The centre has hosted Jordanian officials in Abu Dhabi for talks on the role of rigorous research in addressing future challenges.
A separate TRENDS Research & Advisory symposium held in December 2025 examined ways to counter extremist narratives in the era of artificial intelligence and digital media. The event featured contributions from cyber security officials and international experts who called for combined educational, legislative and analytical responses. Such initiatives complement the tolerance diplomacy outlined in Amman by focusing on practical measures against division. The conference provided an additional platform for TRENDS to share its research with a regional audience of scholars and policymakers.
