The Emirates News Agency reported that UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum sent a cable of congratulations to Nepalese President Ramchandra Paudel. The message highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries while wishing the Nepalese leader success in his endeavors. UAE leaders also expressed hopes for continued peace and prosperity for the people of Nepal.

Nepal observes Constitution Day each year to mark the promulgation of its current constitution on September 20, 2015. The document established the country as a federal democratic republic following the abolition of the 240-year monarchy. Government statements describe the occasion as an opportunity to reaffirm commitments to inclusiveness, social justice and democratic principles across all provinces.

The Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs data places the UAE among the top destinations for Nepali migrant workers since diplomatic relations were established in 1977. Hundreds of thousands of Nepalese nationals currently work in the Gulf state across construction, hospitality and other sectors. Remittances from the UAE rank as the fourth-largest source of such inflows for Nepal, supporting household incomes and national development projects.

A Sharjah24 report showed that UAE non-oil foreign trade with Nepal reached $438.4 million in 2025, reflecting a 90.1 percent increase from the previous year. Nepalese exports to the UAE grew by 109.4 percent while re-exports from the UAE rose by 44 percent. Trade officials from both countries have identified hydropower, tourism, agro-processing and technology as priority areas for expanded cooperation.

Sharjah24 reported that UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi visited Kathmandu in July 2026 to discuss investment opportunities with President Paudel. The talks stressed the role of improved air connectivity in boosting business, tourism and people-to-people contacts. Multiple weekly flights already operate between the two capitals, facilitating these growing exchanges.

Official diplomatic records indicate that such messages of congratulations form part of the UAE’s regular practice on national occasions in partner countries. Similar greetings have been exchanged in prior years, reinforcing mutual goodwill. The exchanges align with nearly five decades of steadily expanding bilateral ties between the UAE and Nepal.
