WAM reported that Hanwha Finance has expanded its financial cooperation with Abu Dhabi through a series of agreements signed this week in Seoul. The partnerships focus on digital finance innovation, stablecoin payments and cross-border financial infrastructure between South Korea and the UAE. Hanwha Life signed a deal with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office to jointly foster a digital finance ecosystem, connect capital markets in both jurisdictions and advance digital banking initiatives. Hanwha Asset Management formed a trilateral pact with the Abu Dhabi Global Market and Hana Financial Group targeting interoperable systems for remittances and digital assets.
The Korea Herald reported that the pacts were concluded at the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum held on September 16 at a Seoul hotel. Senior executives including Hanwha Life Vice Chairman Kwon Hyek-Woong met with Abu Dhabi Investment Office Director-General Badr al-Olama and other officials during the event. A separate agreement with the Abu Dhabi Global Market covers collaboration on Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026 to expand networks with global investors. These steps follow Hanwha affiliates’ role as premier partners at the 2025 edition of the finance week.
According to The Korea Herald, a Hanwha Life official described Abu Dhabi as a key strategic base for the group’s global financial expansion. The official highlighted plans to serve as a bridge between Korean technology and UAE market infrastructure. Hanwha Asset Management CEO Im Dong-jun said the stablecoin partnership would help build a stable digital asset market and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position in the global financial system. The agreements align with broader UAE-Korea ties that include a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement emphasizing fintech and innovation.
Khaleej Times reported that an official from Hanwha Finance characterised the UAE as a global leader in Web3 and fintech under its national strategy. The official added that the cooperation aims to advance aligned financial standards rather than simply entering new markets. Hanwha has accelerated development of its own security token offering platform and on-chain infrastructure in recent months. The latest deals seek to translate bilateral relations into practical financial ecosystem projects.
The Korea Times reported that Hanwha financial units first used Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2025 to outline collaboration areas including supply chain finance and digital asset platforms. Participation in that event established the foundation for the current agreements signed at the investment forum. Officials from both sides have emphasised sustainable and technology-driven partnerships that build on diplomatic relations established in 1980. No specific investment amounts were disclosed in the announcements.
